The Hidden Exposed – Part 1

This is the first of two postings that are excerpts from the book which I wrote during 2006/07, Understanding The Future (2008), that is concerned with one of a number of critical stages – which I call Mother-Waves, this one lasting from 2007 to 2020 – in the current Uranus-Pluto Cycle.  This Cycle begun with a Mother-Wave in the Sixties (1960-1972), a time of great change and upheaval which appropriately initiated the Cycle.  It is essentially a Cycle of awakening (Uranus) with respect to all things Plutonian, which are explained below.  These postings were prompted by the current News Of The World scandal in the UK, a classic case of Uranian truth-seekers laying bare the Plutonian sewer of nefarious goings on in corridors of power, as too are the likes of Abu Ghraib, CIA torture, etc. and probably many other, and even bigger cases, to emerge during this Mother-Wave.  In this first of the two postings we look at this passage from UTF

 1. Awakening to the Underworld

The Underworld, of which Pluto is the Lord, is anything that lies beneath the surface of life or the everyday world.  From this zone issues forth all those things that are regarded as dark and dirty, deep and intriguing, horrific and unmentionable, compelling and profound, occult and shamanic, sexy and beastly, cruel and criminal, creepy and crawly, gothic and ghastly.   But it is also the very bowels of the Earth, and the putrefying, corpse consuming, cosmic compost heap that causes Pluto, volcano-like, to grumble…

My realm wherein all rots and dies

The beauty above ground belies.

The blooms I feed, your world to grace

But you dare not behold My face

And lose yourselves in vain pretence

But when the Great Awakener Uranus logs on to Pluto’s site we really are forced to wake up and have a good look at his ‘face’ – at what we and life are like deep down – for a veritable volcano of Underworld contents spews all over our little day-to-day world of troubles, trivia, gossip, soaps and inconsequentialities.

This phenomenon was brilliantly dramatized in that most feted of books and films, The Lord Of The Rings.  Its popularity, along with some lesser specimens of the sword and sorcery genre, is in some part down to the fact that it plays out what is going on all the time, but relatively out of sight (as is Pluto’s usual style).  And like many great works, TLOTR has a darkly prophetic quality about it, and a seam of profound and scary truth running through it.

So we have Hobbits living in the Shire – that is, little people living their little lives in relative peace in a rural idyll, complete with a good selection of creature comforts and cosy sentiments. Then from afar, something dark and threatening to that way of life looms in the form of the Dark Lord, his Dark Riders, and those hordes of malformed lowlifes, the Orcs  – all classic negative Plutonian figures.

Successfully countering all this mayhem is the Wizard Gandalf and his band of heroes comprised of individual members of the various races that exist in their world.  This all appeals to us because it has meaning.  But that meaning is not always consciously grasped because, like the Hobbits, there is an unwillingness – at least, initially – to accept that there are dark and destructive forces abroad, and in turn a reluctance to accept the call to play a part in getting to the heart of them and thereby overthrowing them.

And now, as the Uranus/Pluto Mother-Wave of 2007-2020 surges,  we must accept that there are ‘dark forces’ abroad, identify them more closely, and do what must be done to make something positive out of the situation – which means to accept and understand what  the ‘dark’ is all about.  Mainly this includes looking at our own shadow. Gandalf is the shaman, the one who knows the ways of dark forces and how to resist them, and how to turn them to his advantage. What critically equips him for this is an acute awareness of his own darkness; he was called Gandalf the Grey initially, evolving by the end to Gandalf the White. His band, that comprises representatives of all the races of Middle Earth, are of course simply that with respect to Planet Earth.  Interestingly, it has been said that TLOTR was an allegory of the rise of Hitler and Nazism and the allies resistance to, and ultimate victory over, them – something which began during the Uranus/Pluto Mother-Wave of 1928-1937 during the previous Cycle.  Tolkien himself denied this, but that does not discount the idea.  Indeed, when a writer becomes too intent on making a point through allegory, his story winds up being self-conscious and contrived, which TLOTR certainly is not.  And whatever allegory was put there unconsciously, is all the more powerful.

In any event, and again interestingly from our Planet-Wave perspective, TLOTR did not actually take off and become a worldwide success until during the next Uranus/Pluto Mother-Wave of 1960-1972, when the hippie culture made it its own.  The allegory then being one of elves and the like versus the dark, straight and oppressive state.

UPDATE: Much of the above, and the last sentence in particular, is reflected in all the uprisings against tyrannical states, especially in the Arab world, that have been occurring during this Mother-Wave 2007-2020.  In the next posting of The Hidden Exposed we will look at what this means on a more personal level, and how that in turn affects the world as a whole.

Fairytale Wedding?

Fairytale Wedding?

Since the time when Prince Charles and Lady Diana got hitched and I was invited by a newspaper editor to write an astrological forecast for what was then viewed by the world as the fairytale romance come true, I have avoided any such tasks.  Why?  Because when I told said editor (of a London evening newspaper) that it would all end in tears, he promptly told me ‘Oh, we can’t print that!’  So having presently been asked a number of times to give my ‘prediction’ for Prince William’s and Kate Middleton’s marriage prospects, this Wicked Messenger declined.  But then it occurred to me that looking at their charts might tell me about something that does interest me – and hopefully you too: what, at a symbolic and psychological level, are they reflecting back at their public concerning their still dizzy expectations of what another fairytale royal marriage is going to do for them?   On the face of it, what it tells us is obvious: we want to be reassured that something good, true and beautiful can still exist in this sad bad world.  And possibly even transform it into a better place – the Return of the King and all that.  But this is a given, and so not what I am after.  I want to find the astro-truth about Wills and Kate as being a deeper and more detailed reading about us, not so much about them.

The ‘myth’ we expect of them (and for ourselves therefore) is of the ‘happy ever after’ kind.  The myth that will play itself out – through them but reflecting our own fates – is, as all myths are, a revelation of the inner truth of the matter.  Something like this…

Kate and William both have Moon in Cancer and Mars in Libra.  The Moon represents feelings, and when in Cancer (its own Sign) these are very much to the fore, running to the highest and lowest, the best and the worst.  There is a rich emotionality, but also a great neediness.  So their Moons reflect the general populace in this respect; a kind of ‘soap opera’ emotionality, with sentimentality being central to it all.  Now the male expression of Moon in Cancer more often than not manifests as an expectation that someone (mother, women, family) will take care of their needs. This is very much reflected in William’s chart as, even though he lost his mother early in life, he has an enormous security system to cocoon him.  Kate however, has a ‘difficult’ Moon in Cancer, and will be expected to be the dutiful wife (and mother) which in effect will make her feel that she is not her own person but just bound by duty and tradition.  Again this reflects the common ‘complaint’ of women universally.

Now all of this could, crablike, just scuttle along the shores that lie between the private and public worlds that the couple inhabit. The ‘machine’ of privilege buoying them up all the while, as basic needs are automatically met.  And this reflects the world’s idea that some things will just go on forever, immune to the vicissitudes that assail the common man and woman.  But then there is that Mars in Libra in both their charts to consider. Mars is about independence and what we desire as individuals – but this has its wings clipped in socially conscious, ‘try-to-please-everyone’, Libra.   Again though, left to its own devices, this would fit in nicely with the whole social myth of ‘be nice and well-behaved and you’ll be alright’.

But no, because transformative and crisis-producing Pluto, over the next 2-3 years, rises up from the Underworld and challenges both William’s and Kate’s Mars’s.  In a phrase, this means ‘enforced independence’.   One possible scenario here is that William’s duties as a prince and potentially future king will rub him up the wrong way, while Kate will be forced to endure and bite her lip, or ‘go it alone’.  But I have to say that Pluto being Pluto, the reasons for their ‘enforced independence’ could be a lot darker or violent even.   Once again, this reflects society’s vain hope that things will just turn out alright; a kind of ‘Nero fiddling while Rome burns’ attitude.

With the best will (pardon the pun) in the world, Kate and William are going to be tried sorely – and of course, so are we.  So ironically, for all their cushioning and cocooning, this ‘privileged couple’ do actually embody and mythologize our collective state and dilemma, and not just our illusions.
